Rampathon wins national honor
Last May, 450 volunteers contributed 4,060 hours and constructed 30 free wheelchair ramps for low-income disabled homeowners.
Ramp recipients were appreciative and filled with admiration for the work of our members. Now the Executive Officers Council of the National Association of Home Builders have added their admiration by naming Rampathon as the 2008 National Community Service Project of the Year. In addition to recognition, the honor was accompanied by a $1,000 cash contribution to the Master Builders Care Foundation from the National Housing Endowment.
Rampathon, which was initiated by the Remodelors Council, involves builders, the Associates Council, Professional Women in Building, the Sales and Marketing Council and the Career Connection Foundation, plus numerous supportive businesses and individual members of the Master Builders Association. In addition to building ramps, volunteers support the event by delivering supplies, coffee, lunches, water, lunches, signage and gifts to participants. They also document Rampathon though video and still photography.
Labor, materials and supplies donated to Rampathon in 2008 totaled $150,000. Thanks to all volunteers who organize and support Rampathon. The community appreciates your efforts!
